How to Play Video Poker
Electronic Poker is a popular game that is able to be gambled on in casinos across the world, or alternatively at home on your computer, using a net connection. The game rules are absolutely simple and consist of the player trying to get the highest assemblage of cards as you can in order to come away with cash. In this respect it’s much the same as a normal game of poker, without the line of contact with any other players. Of course, tactics employed during a real-life game of poker, such as bluffing, will be useless here.
The game of Electronic Poker starts when the bettor inserts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the video poker machine and pushes the deal button. A hand of 5 cards will be electronically ‘dealt’ on the video screen.
The Video Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and players should now choose which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the gambler would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they wish, whether it’s all or none.
After the bettor has chosen which cards he or she wishes to retain, they should press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards will be given out if desired. The game is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the pay out schedule.
Normally, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the pay out schedule can range from machine to machine, so that skillful enthusiasts are agile enough to pick the most profitable machine each instance.
Once the initial round has played out, the player can either decide to remain on in an attempt to maximize their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that might have been won. Further, some styles of the game give the player a chance to double their winnings, in which situation another round is played. There are also differences between individual machines, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying characteristics to enhance playability.
