Electronic Poker is a favored game that can be bet on in casinos around the globe, or alternatively at your house on your PC, through a web account. The rules are very straightforward and consist of the player trying to achieve the greatest combination of cards achievable in order to win cash. In this respect it’s very similar as a classic game of poker, minus the line of contact with competing players. Of course, methods used in a real-life game of poker, such as bluffing, will be irrelevant here.

The game of Video Poker starts when the gambler puts credits (whether it is tokens, tickets or money) into the video poker machine and pushes the draw button. A 5 card hand will be "distributed" on the video screen.

The Video Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and gamblers should now pick which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the enthusiast wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they want, whether it’s all or none.

After the player has chosen which cards he or she wishes to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards are handed out if desired. The round is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the payout schedule.

Generally, the lowest succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the payment schedule can change from game to game, so that discerning bettors are able to select the most money-making ones every instance.

Once the first round has finished, the player can either choose to stay on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that they may have won. Further, some versions of the game allow the player an opportunity to increase their winnings, in which situation another hand is played. There are also variations among individual games, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other differing characteristics to enhance playability.
